The Man Behind the Holler

Fantasy gaming, heavy metal music, horror and sci-fi movies. These are the elements that have shaped my imagination.

I have been a song writer/performer since I was a teenager growing up in Stratford, Prince Edward Island. Creating and enjoying art is my whole life. When I was younger, I started dabbling in prop building, but over the last five years I have really dug deep, and so I began Razorback Holler Prop Studio.

It all started with wanting to spice up my musical performances. I would build giant props for use on stage, or medieval helmets and masks for our lead singer to wear. The reaction from the crowd was always fantastic, so I continued to create and learn more.

I particularly love building masks because an entire story can come from a face. When creating a new piece, I always have a basic idea of where I am going with it, but in the end I am always surprised at the final features, especially in the mouth or eyes. Just changing those features slightly can reveal so much expression and character. It is amazing.

After a few years of creating many pieces, this passion became its' own pursuit, separate from my music. With the help of my amazing partner Jen, we organized everything in order to enter into Hal-Con 2018 as Razorback Holler Prop Studio. Shortly after that, Jen got the great news that we had been accepted, and it was a blast.

We returned for Hal-Con 2019 and it was even better than the previous year. The feeling you get from walking around in a costume you built yourself, and blowing peoples minds is fantastic. It is such a great spot for inspiration and acceptance and Razorback Holler is hooked for sure.

I am happy to work on custom orders for anyone who is interested. I also continue to work on my own personal pieces for fun, knowledge, and to see that look on your face.
